About Sue Liu

Sue Liu Sue is an active humanitarian,  and wherever possible – combines her work with her passion for people.

Working in a cross cultural environment, for the ultimate betterment of  communities in developing countries is key motivation when choosing  who to work with.

Since 2004, Sue has worked on a voluntary basis with communities  in Sri Lanka after the Boxing Day Tsunami, and more recently has been working with organisations that support orphan children and women and children with HIV/Aids in Cambodia and the Congo.

Sue prefers to provide everybody with creative opportunities to support those rare and dedicated individuals and organisations doing the  hands-on work – you can find out more by visiting Zulu’s Community.

Sue is also a Mentor – your Business Confidante – working one-to-one with business owners and leaders through the challenges of navigating through business, and has also been a mentor with the Women in Business Mentoring Program for the NSW Department of State and Regional Development.


Before Zulu

After completing her BA and post-graduate degrees at University and consolidating her experience in Public Relations and Media Relations, Sue decided to discover what the world had to offer. She travelled and worked overseas for five years before returning to Australia in 1999. Before Zulu, Sue’s clients and employers included:

  • In Australia: NSW Department of Community Services, Barnardos Australia, Securities Institute of Australia, Australia Council for the Arts, Mayne Stream Communications and FAI Home Security.
  • Overseas: London , England – NCH Action for Children and Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation. Vancouver , Canada – THE Financial Planning Group, Montreal Trust and Just Your Type.

Qualifications

  • Graduate Diploma in Communication Management in Public Relations from UTS – 1994
  • BA. Communications Studies from University of Newcastle -1991
    Sue was awarded the Cogan and Associates Prize for Public Relations and graduated with High Distinctions in the areas of PR and writing.

Sue’s interests include:

  • Singing and music – Jazz, Blues, Funk, Groove and Gospel.
  • Mosaic art and painting
  • Philantropy and social justice – doing it – not just talking about it
  • Travel to 60 + countries and counting, especially developing nations (see some highlights below)
  • Food related activities ie. making and eating
  • All things FELINE – especially her own beloved brown Burmese Boy “Moet”

An intrepid world traveller – 60 countries and counting!!!

Sue has visited and experienced life in over 50 countries. She has a special interest in adventurous travel with highlights including:

  • Spending Christmas & New Year with 125 Cambodian orphans and BIG MUM Geraldine Cox in Cambodia at Sunrise Children’s Village
  • Private tours to Tsunami ravaged regions of Sri Lanka escorted through danger zones by Tamil Tigers
  • Being shot at on a volcano in Guatemala
  • White water rafting on the Nile in Uganda
  • Diving with Manta Ray on the Big Island of Hawaii
  • Flying over Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe in a 2-seater microlight
  • Being kissed by a baby chimpanzee in Uganda
  • Winning the 2 Day FM travel adventure competition in 2000 (doing crazy things on live radio for three weeks in Sydney and Europe).
