Candle FAQs

Q: Who created the range of candles?

The product range has been designed by Sue. We hope you like the selection of styles, scents and flavours on offer. The range includes glass mosaics, glass jars, travel candles and tea lights.

Q: What scents can I choose from?

After choosing the style of candle outer, you can select from the following citrus scents:

Most people say that the candles smell so delicious they want to eat them! I have chosen a range of fragrances that I love and adore including:

Q: How strong are the candles scented?

Everybody likes their candles differently and I can adjust the balance to your needs. Have them light, or strong! I’ve had many people come back to me over the years saying that they prefer the subtleness of lightly scented candles, others find commercially produced candles too overpowering when unlit – and once lit the scent can intensify and it can make you sneezie and wheezie if too strong. I scent the candles on the “lighter” side, but if you want them stronger, please ask.

The candles when unlit, will give off a lovely scent which you’ll catch when you walk past it, or it carries on the breeze flowing through your house. It enhances the ambiance of your environment without being overpowering.Once the candle is lit and starts to melt and “throwing” the scent, it will be stronger. If you are going to be burning a lot of candles at one time I recommend using a combination of fragrance and unscented candles.

Q: Will the citronella really keep the mozzies away?

Yes, the citronella really works! I burn citronella candles inside, near the doorways and do not have mosquito problems inside. I recommend getting a combination of glass jars candles and buying some tea lights for outdoor events. You can can scatter the tea lights around in empty jars which will protect the flame from the wind and give you extra coverage for twinkly lights and mozzie busting coverage.

Q: Who makes the candles?

Sue makes your candles exactly to your order.  You can expect that they will be dispatched to you or ready for collection within 5 days of ordering/payment. If there are any issues with stock availability, you will be contacted immediately and offered alternatives.

Q: How are the candles packaged?

Candles are beautifully gift wrapped in tissue paper and a box and tied with ribbon and ready to give as gifts. No need to rewrap before giving. Our colour schemes are red, purple, pink and orange.

Q: Why 100% soy?

The choice is clear! 100% soy candles are better for your health and environment!

Soy candles are made from soy wax, which is hydrogenated soybean vegetable oil, are 100% natural, biodegradable and completely non-toxic. Soy wax candles:

Q: What’s the difference with other candles?

Many commercially available, CHEAP candles are made of paraffin wax, a petroleum by-product that is classified as a petrochemical. Paraffin contains 11 different toxins, two of which are known carcinogens.

Q: What about the contribution to community?

Each candle product sold includes a donation to a charitable organisation or community project. The donation component is identified in the description of the product. At the end of the campaign the total funds raised is tallied up and donated by Zulu Communications to the recipient. It’s not always  a registered charity, it might be a small community project in Australia or overseas. You can read more about past campaigns, successes and funds raised in our posts.
